5.0 out of 5 stars Simply an excellent book on Tibetan Buddhism, 20 Jun 2001
This was one of the first books I read on Buddhism, and I found it excellent from an instructional point of view, as well as a pure pleasure to read. A book to read again and again, as a beginner or a more accomplished practioner. It's rare to find a book that satisfy on so many levels - and at the same time can serve as book for looking things up. Sogyal Rinpoche has a lovely style for writing/telling which makes this book a joy to read. This is a book I would recommend also for none Buddhists, but with a curiousity for philosophy in general, Eastern philosophy in particular, and with an open mind concerning life and death (as a part of life). My recommendation can only be - Buy it! Read it!!
