5.0 out of 5 stars ...this book IS a guitar tab book..., 24 Nov 2001
By Steve Packer (raven__2@hotmail.com) (Northampton, England, UK) - See all my reviews
Just a passing avid Manic Street Preachers fan who happens to be a guitarist. I would like to clear up any confusion that may have been incurred by informing that this book IS a guitar tab book - it doesn't have guitar tabs just as an added extra. So don't expect a biography or any other such material - you'll be disappointed. Just expect to find a comprehensive and detailed method of playing on the guitar (or any other instrument if you're sufficiently musically versed) all of the songs on the Brit award-winning album "Everything Must Go" by a great band. Some tabbooks for other bands (this only happens, in my knowledge, in america) include short biographies and photos of band members, but this is not the case in my EMG tabbook. The version you would receive might have this, but as I say this is not common at all and I wouldn't expect it. It should be more of a pleasant and unexpected surprise to find any material of this sort than disappointment in not finding any... Hope i've been of help!

4.0 out of 5 stars an excellent guitar tab book, 16 Feb 2002
This book is great. It has accurate tabulations for all the songs on the album and most of them are surprisingly easy to play, it is a must for aspiring guitarists who like the Manics and saves so much time spent looking for third rate tab translations on the internet. It is only a pity that other Manics albums have not yet been offically tabbed.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK if you're a beginner..., 2 Sep 2002
By A Customer
The book features all ther songs in tab, but always just arranged for one guitar, which may make things simpler for the beginner. However, even with only one guitar for each song, there are wuite a few mistakes. Kevin Carter is in completely the wrong tuning. It is transcribed as being in standard tuning (EADGBE), but it was actually recorded in Open G (DGDGBD), a tuning used often by James Dean Bradfield. In fact it is used in Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky, from the same album, trancribed in the very same book, presumably by the same person, who must have sufficient enough knowledge of the tuning to be able to realise that it was used for Kevin Carter.
Overall, this seems like a very unprofessional book.
