Product Description

Review

... lots of information for the aspiring conservatory gardener... would be well worth reading before you even start to build your conservatory (Garden Answers )

... will encourage the adventurous, lured by the enticing photographs, to roam far into the realms of exotic plants (Fred Whitsey Daily Telegraph )

Product Description

The Conservatory Gardener, by popular writer and broadcaster Anne Swithinbank, is the best book on the market about gardening under glass. Its core is an encyclopaedic guide to the best conservatory plants.

More than 1,000 plants, selected for their attractiveness and usefulness, are arranged according to use - for dramatic impact or as background, for seasonal interest or temporary display. They are cross-referenced according to temperature needs. A practical section gives advice on feeding and watering, ways of regulating light, temperature and humidity, dealing with pests and on step-by-step propagation.

5.0 out of 5 stars exellent, 7 Mar 2003
By Mrs. D. Laslett "sir sir" (kings heath, west midlands United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

An exellent and informative book. It deals not only with the structural aspects of building a conservatory and maintainance, but more importantly with all the wonderful plants you can now grow. I found this the area of the book most useful and prior to finding it, the hardest to obtain info on. There are several sections dealing with different plant groups and within each many plants are described, often with a clear photo. The care of the plants is explained along with growing conditions etc. It has become my most used reference book.

This book seems to cover every question you ever wanted to ask and is as useful for the person lucky enough already to have a conservatory as it is invaluable to someone starting from scratch. Facts, advice, tips, and photos that show just what a magic place a conservatory can be.
