5.0 out of 5 stars A thorough and intriguing trawl through recent train crashes, 2 Jun 2000
By A Customer
In Hidden Dangers, Stanley Hall has written the perfect follow-up to his previous two books on the subject, Danger Signals and Danger On The Line. This is an in-depth look at some of the more recent train accidents, such as Clapham Junction (1988), Purley (1989), Cowden (1994) and Cannon Street (1991). It is an unbiased account of the accidents and the causes and consequences, and does not attempt to court cheap popularity by attaching undue blame. A hard-hitting read, gripping stuff from beginning to end. My own interest in railway safety was begun by reading one of Stanley Hall's books, and his excellent reputation for detail and analysis means I will be looking out for more of his work. Thoroughly recommended for anyone who wishes to find a non-hysterical viewpoint on rail accidents (unlike what is found in the newspapers! ).
