Product Description

Product Description

Wild and beautiful, Gwyneth Johns is a Patagonian with a scandalous past that shocks the Victorian ladies of the small pioneering town in the Valdes Peninsular. She has sworn never to let any man get close, but her resolve is weakened by a handsome Spaniard, Miguel, who is not all he seems. Then, new immigrants arrive from the northeast of England. Gentle giant Rob, his younger brother, Davy, and the hard drinking, amoral Matt with his young wife, all of them arrive. Gwyneth is called upon to teach them how to be gauchos. Reluctantly, she accepts the challenge. Now she risks losing her life and newfound love to the cold glaciers of the Andes.

(REAL NAME)
When Rob Barker and his brother follow Matt Riley to Patagonia at the turn of the 20th century, the last this they expect is to be taught how to ride by a woman. Yet it is the proud and unforgiving Gwyneth Johnns who reluctantly takes on the task of teaching the three men from Tyneside the ways of the gaucho. Rob and Gwyneth strike up an uneasy friendship, but Gwyneth finds it hard to to trust men, and Rob turns to the Widow Evans, Gwyneth's protector and the oldest inhabitant in the small close-knit Welsh community of Puerto Daffyd, in order to understand her. What he learns about the woman he has come to respect and love both horrifies him and fills him with compassion. Underneath her hard exterior Gwyneth has a deep longing for kindness and honesty, but her budding friendship with Rob is threatened by Matt who has other plans.
Yet, "To the Ends of the Earth" is more than a love story. It is the embodiment of the pioneering spirit, the search for a better life, and the tremendous courage of the settlers in their attempts at taming the wild and beautiful land of Patagonia. The fabric of the setting is woven tightly into the story which has an epic sweep as expansive as the Argentinean horizon itself. In a clash of old values and new cultures "To the Ends of the Earth" both challenges the mould of the traditional saga while staying firmly within the bounds of it. Evocative and thoroughly engaging.
