Product Description

Product Description

Here is a guide to the magical spirituality of the hedge witch, which describes a path that is profound and yet simple - uncluttered by complex ritual, a matter of the heart. The hedge witch is a solitary witch and natural mystic who practises wildwood mysticism, so called because it is the knowledge at the root of the tree of witchcraft. Explained in detail are the witch's prayers, spell-casting and communication with spirits and faeries, including those spirits travelling in the three realms of the magical otherworld. The values and ethics of this most ancient tradition may surprise and delight with their blend of common sense, compassion and wildness. (It is not a spiritual way for conformists!) This book opens the door to all those who feel they are natural witches but are, as yet, uninstructed. The Hedge Witch's Way is a guide for witches of either gender - potential wisewomen or wisemen - that presents the faerie-led practices of our ancestors, in a modern-day context.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical affirmations at their best!, 25 Sep 2001
By A Customer
The sequel to 'Hedge Witch', is a beautiful expression of the beliefs and practices of the lone spellcaster, that is, a solitary witch who does not feel compelled to join a coven or group. 'The Hedge Witch's Way' focuses on the themes raised in 'Hedge Witch' and explains them fully and simply. I wish this book had been published when I was first interested in paganism, because it is none dictatorial and un- cluttered by complex rituals and the regalia of tools and the 'correct' equiptment. So many books on the subject of witchcraft are comercialised, sensational, Americanised (no dis-respect, but England has such deep magical roots that I can connect with Rae Beth's concepts). When you are setting of on a spiritual path, you shouldn't need to worry about confusing complex information.
I recommend this book for all new spiritual seekers who need reassurance, young pagans who are unsure of how to voice their beliefs, and who do not feel ready or the need to join a group. Also any witch who feels comfortable working alone. Invaluable and absolutely magical!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful..., 2 April 2003

This is a follow-up to the wonderful 'hedgewitch'. This is just as good as the previous book albeit written a little differently as the 1st one was written in the form of letters. Everything is explained so concisely and the little drawings included in the text are really lovely, and help you envisage exactly what rae is writing about.
If you have read 'Hedgewitch' you will love this a truly beautiful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prayers in the woods, 15 Jan 2005
By A. Steffe "haraniya" (Derby) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I loved Rae Beth's Hedge Witch for it's simple, beautiful and compassionate take on Witchcraft. This book follows on perfectly. It focuses on prayers mainly, what some would call 'invocations'. She offers beautfully written prayers for allsorts of things such as health, dreams, understanding and goes into great step by step detail of how to write your own.

She discusses the spirituality of Witches, describing the World Tree and what each level means in our practice.

This is a book to draw out your individual way of Witchcraft, primarily a guidebook, but more a meditation on what lies beneath Nature. It's excellent and well worth buying.
