5.0 out of 5 stars Okavango : Africa's Last Eden, 1 Oct 2002
This book is set to become a classic benchmark for photographers!

A host of new wildlife photographers have used Lantings book
as a blueprint for their own work. Especially Lantings photos of
elephants in the Savuti area.

Lanting himself has borrowed from Beverly Joubert when
photographing the lions of Savuti. Beverlys photography can be
seen in "Hunting with the Moon" and "The Africa Diarys", both
from National Geographic Society. Lanting covered the Okavango
for the NGS in a 1994? special, and many of the photographs in
the book also appeared in their magazine.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Superb Example of The Very Best in Nature Photography, 4 Jun 2000
By A Customer
Lanting, BBC Wildlife Photographer of The Year 1991, is one of the best nature photographers in the world at the moment.

Here he photographs perhaps what are the most photographed animals on the earth, but he does it with such talent that each picture breathes freshness and enlightenment onto an old subject. (The leopard walking at night is one of the most haunting images of an animal you will ever see).

Very Highly Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Photographic Excellence, 12 Sep 2002
By P. Forsyth (Hove) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Frans Lanting has established a global reputation for excellence in the field of nature photography, and this offering does not let us down. He explains his own philosophy to his approach to wildlife photography, together with a valuable account of the creatures and their habitat.

The book concentrates on this dwindling delta and is a delight to look at. It also contains more narrative than we are used to, which elaborates upon the ecosystem and the dangers it faces.

The photography in this title sets a benchmark for professional and amateur alike.
