1.0 out of 5 stars An absolutely terrible book - don't waste your money., 8 Nov 2001
A book full of useless platitudes and not apparently updated since 1991, even though I bought the 1999 second paperback edition. The advice on building work itself is very thin on the ground and you'll get more help from specific books that don't claim to have insider knowledge re France. Any specific information on France in this book is also provided in David Hampshire's "Living and Working in France", which in fact gives you lots more.

1.0 out of 5 stars Should be renamed "Restoring Old Property in France", 25 May 2001
By A Customer
I bought this book because I am currently buying a property in France and wanted to know the ins and outs of the purchasing process. Mr Everett devotes just over three pages to this and frankly I am no better off that I was before I read the book. I was expecting a detailed account of the buying process, what happens when, the let out clauses, who does what with mortgages, guarantees, costs etc. None of this is covered.

I have not read the rest of the book on restoring property, but it looks to be quite comprehensive so my advice is only purchase this book if you want information on restoration.
