Product Description

Product Description

Companion volume to the highly acclaimed "The Witches' Goddess", this is an exhaustive work of research which sets about re-establishing the ancient balance between God and Goddess. The book has three parts. 'Faces of the God' examines the many concepts of the male god throughout history, including the Son/Lover God, the Vegetation God, and such negative aspects as the War God and the Anti-God. 'Invoking the God' examines twelve individual gods of history and also suggests an appropriate ritual for each. 'Gods of the World' is a remarkably comprehensive directory of over a thousand gods from cultures past and present. "The Witches' God" is the standard work on the masculine god aspect.

About the Author

4.0 out of 5 stars Review, 4 Nov 2002
By Ms. S. O'reilly "hikari" (belfast, uk) - See all my reviews

This review is from: The Witches' God (Paperback)
A comphrehensive guide to all past and present aspects of male divinity. It lists and describes over 1000 Gods worshipped and worked with by all religions focusing on wiccan Gods. Actually a rather interesting read until you come across a boring God. I enjoyed his book and found it extremely useful for people just entering the craft who are choosing their own personal deities. Try 'The Witches Goddess' by the same authors aswell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant for those who are interested in different Gods, 9 April 2001
By Ms. Clair E. Mcmullen (London, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A fantastic book that explores the imagery and religious symbolism behind the different God types that can be found around the world. Designed for those who lean to a Pagan way of life, but equally appealing to everyone regardless of their culture or beliefs.

The Book is split up into three sections, the first exploring various archetypal roles of the Gods, the second taking an in depth look at a selection of Gods and the third acting as an encylcopedia of gods, giving details of hundreds of different deities from around the world.

The book is a complement to 'The Witches Goddess', which has previously been released by the same authors, and both books are definately worth reading.
