Most people today will not have heard of Ian Carmichael. I never thought he ever was that famous but he was always considered, in my book, a bit of a classy actor.

This book is written by Ian himself and does the ususal journey of parents through youth and marriage to present day. (in this case the present is the mid seventies) He tells us all his short comings a s a lad but thay all gelled together to create the person the we eventually knew. He writes in a very friendly and frank way without making the story too charming or cheesy. He drops name, which sadly have got lost in time, but if you enjoy the theater and all things "old British films" then this is for you. His struggle after a strange war career is probabaly the cabkbone of this book. How he lived rough in digs and it took years for him to afford a car while the family moved back to Scarborough.

Best read in front of a warm fire with a hot cup of coca.
