This dictionary is based on the Oxford English Dictionary and has all the strengths of that dictionary. It is the definitive dictionary of Welsh with a historical bias - due to the length of time that it has taken to publish parts of this dictionary it is a bit out of date - but then again so are all the rest!

If you can read Welsh you will get more out of this dictionary (although there are translations of the definitions, the examples are Welsh only). This is most certainly a Welsh-Welsh dictionary and would be useless if you want a Welsh-English dictionary.

If you are a serious scholar of Welsh you should (must) have this dictionary - I personally would not take any Welsh scholar seriously if she/he did not have the dictionary nor would any body I know in the field of Welsh language studies.
