This book deals with a very sensitive subject and one that there is not much info about. It contains other people's experiences of miscarriage and also medical infomation. I found it comforting to read other people's stories of miscarriage but I was suprised that it also had infomation on abortion which may not be to everyones taste as this is a very sensitive area.

But I did find the medical infomation very useful, and it did help me with my grieving.

I was hoping this book would provide me with some hope and support at a difficult time and with so little literature available I had high hopes for the Ectopic Pregnancy section. What I found however were a series of distressing, uncomfortable and 'Americanised' tales and poems about other peoples loss. Think carefully before you read this about whether you are strong enough to be taking on board others experiences as they are not balanced with optimism or future thinking.

This wonderful book was a great comfort to me following my surgery for an ectopic pregnancy last month. Although I am a midwife myself and therefore understood what was happening to me, the emotional side of the loss of my baby and part of my future fertility hit me very hard. The first chapter contains womens (and mens) own thoughts and feelings about their losses and helped me to realise what I felt was normal and I wasn't alone. The subject of ectopic pregnancy was also very useful and dealt with this particular type of miscarriage very well. The medical information is also clear and concise. The self-help techniques about dealing with your loss are also very useful and I know I'll turn to this book time and time again throughout the future. I would definitely recommend it to other women going through all kinds of pregnancy loss.

I must also recommend Small Sparks of Life by Lysanne Sizoo which is an amazing story of one womans experience of a miscarriage and then an ectopic pregnancy, through to the birth of her son.
