5.0 out of 5 stars Essential read!, 27 May 2006

(REAL NAME)
This is indeed an essential read if you want to follow the Elric series. Here you start to discover something of the strange multiverse Elric finds himself to live in. The story develops in a rather surrela environment. Thus it might not be everyone's cup of team but it is one of my favourite Elric books together with The Fortress of Pearl and Stormbringer.
Join Elric in his journey in the Sea of fate and meet the other aspects of the Champion Eternal, Erekose, Corum and Hawkmoon.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Sailors on the Seas of Fate, 23 Sep 2005
By dogbarkssome (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
Chronologically the 3rd of the Elric novels The Sailors on the Seas of Fate (1976) is a light but entertaining adventure, comprising of three separate but interlinked stories as Elric variously encounters demons who feed on the energy of the universe (alongside other aspects of the Eternal Champion), a doomed Melnibonian noble from ancient history, and finally journeying to the site of his ancestors birth and inadvertently setting in motion the doom of his world. The initial few pages of team-ups are a little fan-ish and filled with portentous and pretentious dialogue, but this novel then settles down to be an entertaining romp. Certainly not one of Moorcock's deeper novels, but good fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Moorcock has written!!!!, 26 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This is the definative Elric book, and in my opinion, the best book Moorcock has ever written. Elric's adventures on the mysterious Sea of Fate conjure such images in the mind that are likely to linger - like a long but well remembered dream. Readers of the Hawkmoon saga MUST refer to this novel and marvel at Moorcock's genius as he describes the meeting of Hawkmoon and Elric upon the strange ship, from Elric's perspective. Brilliant read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so bad, but Elric certainly went through rough weather
Like the first novel, this one showcases the same short prose from Moorcock. Yet in contrast to the first book "sailor" exudes a "raw" feel to it. Read more
