Currently there is a great deal of confusion about the quality systems (QS) requirements standards that are being implemented around the world, and also who is and is not nationally authorized to accredit companies, products and personnel to standards such as 150 9000 series or EN 45,000 series. This guide has been prepared to provide basic, high-level information on the method each country around the world has adopted for granting QS registration and accreditation to its industries. It documents the arrangements countries have made to ensure international recognition. The report contains details of over 50 accreditation and/or certification bodies, including logos where possible, to provide an instant reference point for interpreting foreign certificates. It covers over 30 countries, including the UK, most of Europe, North America, Australia, South Africa and many Asian countries, such as Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. The data in the guide is taken from information provided by named contacts. It is presented in a standard format for easee of location and comparison, and includes a national organization chart for each country, which gives an overall view of accreditation bodies and standards. In a separate section, entries are also provided for organization, such as WELAC and ILAC, one of whose objectives is the mutual recognition of QS standards. Abbreviations and acronyms are listed.
