It has a strange, dark power - but is there danger in its strength? Encountering unexpected, malevolent forces along the way, but also making new friends, Jewel and Thorn discover a new and even more dangerous opponent lurking in the shadows behind those they already know.

Having spent my childhood in Low Moor like the author the book has an extra special interest for me.The setting really makes the book come to life with names such as Oakshaw and Harry Park,names so familiar in the industrial yet very green landscape of South Bradford which is much loved by us Bradfordians.
The first book in the trilogy Jewel and Thorn set the scene very successfully and developed the characters thoroughly.It has allowed RP to follow with a book which is 90 miles per hour all the way with no let up at all in intensity or excitement.
It is a very dark quest with twists and turns everywhere.Surprises galore with much dark humour.Yet there is a lot of depth which can be read on different levels.Many dark and deep questions remain unanswered like whatever did happen to the human race and where did they go wrong when they had everything but didn't know it
I read the book in a few days and couldn't bear to put it down.I had to find out what happened as soon as possible.Of course,there is the third part to come which promises to be awesome given the quality and originality of the Brass Key.
The story would make a very original film if strictly adhered to.
The setting would have to be Low Moor so Spielberg,where are you?

It took me two days to read the second in the trilogy of Lowmoor - I could not put it down. Richard Poole does not bog you down with pages and pages of unnecessary waffle just action and enough description so that you can see in your mind what he wants you to see. I can't wait for the final book.... I hope that there will be a recording made of the books as I would love listening to them in the car.
