Product Description

Product Description

An ingenious look at how Christmas really works.; Beneath the Arctic Polar Ice Cap, deep underground, is a bustling community with one mission and one mission only - to make Christmas happen. Have you ever wondered how Santa can pop out of a chimney without a soot stain on his red velvet? Elves, of course - fully trained at the Elf Academy in chimney sweeping! And does Santa Really have to time to check if every single child's been naughty or nice? Of course not - that's why he created the CIA (Christmas Intelligence Agency) to train elves to spy on children. And where do all those Santas in department store grottoes come from? The Santa Academy, of course. How Santa Really Works is a true scoop on how Santa does what he does so well, brilliantly conceived by Alan Snow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun funky drawings that spark a festive imagination, 24 Nov 2006

This review is from: How Santa Really Works (Paperback)
This is a humorous `information' book which takes you through the logistics of Xmas and it's a smashing book to bring out at Christmas time. It's packed with bright funny drawings and diagrams showing where Santa lives, the factory, elf training, how letters to Santa are processed, how toys are made, stored and distributed etc. There's plenty to look at and you'll notice new things every time you look - I particularly like the elf recruitment fair which includes a stall for Department of Reindeer Welfare and the Christmas Intelligence Agency (CIA) who spy on children to see how good they've been. My daughter (6) pored over this book for many happy hours last Christmas and was delighted to see it reemerge as we unpacked our Christmas stuff this year. We're both looking forward to reading it over and over again for many years to come. Honestly - one look inside and you'll be hooked - it's absolutely brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely brilliant!, 30 Oct 2007

I bought this book for my daughter and she absolutely loves it! She now believes that there are elves hidden in the walls gathering information for Christmas!

The book clears up some of those questions posed by children - well how does Santa get down the chimney? How does he know what I want for Christmas? Where does Santa store all the toys? How does he get all of them on his sleigh?

A truly magical book - I would highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars So how does santa work?, 9 Dec 2005

This book is wasted on children. Children will get a lot of enjoyment out of it as there is so much to learn about santa and his elves, and there is so much to look at. That's what makes it such a gem. I'd be suprised if no one has a smile from start to finish with this book, as the detail is brilliant. You'll find something new everytime you look through it and will notice new comments from the elves, and occasionally there may be an elf that you're sure wasn't there before....
I love this book and recommend it to adults and children alike. My daughter has just started asking questions about Santa, and this book has all the answers. It's fabulous!
