In this book Blizzard's Wake written by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor it gives a good in site to what people had to go through during this blizzard of 1941 in North Dakota. It is written in well thought out detail that really brings you into the writing itself. It makes you almost able to feel the cold that the characters are feeling in this story. I like the fact also that she doesn't use real people but uses real facts that happened during this. She made it take place in North Dakota. She had you also look throw the eyes of different people all in a different boat sort of speak. She had Kate Sterling stuck at home during the time of the blizzard. She had Doc. Sterling and Jesse Sterling stuck in the car that was fifty yards away from their house that which Kate was in. Zeke Dexter who had just got out of prison that day early for the murder of the mother and wife of the other Sterling's, Kate, Jesse, and Doc, was dropped off on a street and he was walking home when the blizzard hit. The author tells real facts that happened during the events of the blizzard as well. Such facts were the wind change, it was coming from the west but changed suddenly and it started coming from the east. Also the temperature drop, it dropped in one hour from 28 degrees to 13 degrees. Also the character Zeke mentions that the snow was gritty. People were stuck in their houses for weeks while people tried to dig them out. There where dead bird that were spotting the snow that the book mentioned. Also there was one hundred fifty cars were stranded. The death toll was seventy two people. The storm got two nick names that where the Red River Valley Blizzard of 1941 and the Black Blizzard. This book was packed full of information. I found this book to be very enjoyable and worthy of reading if you are looking for a easy read. It will really hook you onto it write away because you just want to know what was going to happen next.
