Product Description
Synopsis
If Alcoholics Anonymous is so effective, why do so many people struggle with alcoholism? This book, writ ten by a long-time drinker, attacks the organisation and the ir methods for dealing with drinkers. '

From the Author
Empowering yourself
After forcing myself, for over ten years, to adopt a program that didn't feel right to me, I eventually discovered that I was not powerless over alcohol or any of my three other addictions, regardless of what A.A. wanted me to believe. I was, and am in fact, powerful and I learned how to overcome my addictions, in part, by focusing on what was right about myself, as opposed to the twelve step approach that spotlights character defects, wrongs, and shortcomings. While the twelve step route is a valid path for those that it works for, I found an equally valid path. It includes letting go of the endless self-judgments and instead affirming our intrinsic goodness and wholeness. This book is about how I taught myself to harness my own power and how anyone can help themselves to win the battle of addiction. It is a useful book for an addict or any loved one of an addict.
