Laurel Parnell, Ph.D.
author of "Transforming Trauma: EMDR" and "EMDR in the Treatment of Adults Abused as Children"
"Small Wonders" touched me deeply with Dr. Lovett's heartwarming stories of creatively using EMDR to heal traumatized children. As well as being an important contribution to the field of child psychology, this intelligent book is a must-read for parents, therapists, physicians, teachers, and anyone who works with children.

Small Wonders enlightens readers about children's behaviors
Why would a 12-year-old athletic, likeable, A student be afraid to go to sleep-away camp? Why would a 5-year-old stop learning after a playground accident? Why would a child feel guilty about his grandmother's death when he didn't cause it? I'm a behavioral pediatrician and these are the kinds of mysteries families bring me every day. I wrote Small Wonders to share my experiences with people who want to understand what causes anxiety and how to treat it. When I was traumatized by an automobile accident, none of my doctors understood how to treat posttraumatic symptoms, and neither did I! My healing began when I learned about Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an effective method for treating trauma and anxiety. I decided to use this powerful catalyst for healing in my work with children. This rewarding work led to Small Wonders, a collection of clinical mysteries that I hope will open the possibility for a happier life for you and those you love.
