5.0 out of 5 stars Move over Patricia Cornwell, 4 Sep 1999
By A Customer
I've just finished reading What a Woman's Gotta Do by Evelyne Coleman, I couldn't put it down. The character of Patricia Conley and the combination of Dogon mysticism, cloistered monks, high level martial arts, big money conspiracy, racism, anti-racism, wit and wisdom kept me up all night. When Evelyne Coleman publishes another novel, I'm going to be first in line at the bookstore and I'm going to read it right there. That's how good I thought What a Woman's Gotta Do was. Joe McLellan

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!, 12 Aug 1999
By A Customer
I read this book in two days. I couldn't put it down. The protagonist-Patricia Conley was multi-faceted and the supporting characters also maintained their depth. The story was gripping--beginning with the prologue. I have not read a truly engaging mystery written by an African American since Walter Mosely.

I thought this was one of the most convoluted novels I've ever experienced.
