When I read the first in the series (Ruby), I could not put it down. It was written with such passion and feeling. So I went in search of the rest of the series. One word - amazing. I read all of them in order and when I came to the last one I was so disappointed. NO story line, no feeling and no effort. If you have read the first three and were in the same fantasy world that I was in. be prepared for a loud bump back down to that cruel harsh world of boredom.

In V.C. Andrew's Hidden Jewel she continues the Landry Series' horrifying past. Along with her mother's past Pearl must face struggle's when she returns to the cajun Bayou. All throughout the book Andrews keeps referring to Lousianna's Cajun past. Through this book she can describe the life of a young girl living in the Bayou. She writes about the dark side of the Landry's family past. Andrew's apparently translating her life through her novels she writes. The main character in this novel is questioned many times and has to make a decision between right and wrong. In this novel V.C. Andrews keeps her reader's on the edge of their seats with endless cliffhangers, which keep her readers begging for more. In the end, however V.C. Andrews always satisfies fans curiosity, but still keeps the series alive and exciting. She writes her books to where she gains all of her reader's attention and they get lost among her words. Hidden Jewel is flawlessly written. In Hidden Jewel, Andrews encourages her readers to become sympathetic for the characters and interacts with their emotions. I think that she relates to the reader's as much as she does the characters in this novel. This novel is a must read for those who are fans of V.C. Anrews or those who just need a real tear-jerker.
