5.0 out of 5 stars dead by sunset, 12 Jun 2003
By J. Maxwell "omfgjeanie" (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Dead By Sunset is a well written and detailed account of wife killer and mysoginist Bradley Morris. It explores the twisted mind of a man who throughout his life, manipulated beautiful and successful women to support him in his lavish lifestyle. The sociopathic personliaty of Bradley Morris, coupled with the violence and charisma that he utilises to his own end, only serves to send a chill down the spine of the reader. Ann Rule cleverly explores the mind of this monster and the book is simply 'unputdownable'. Excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truth is definately scarier & better than fiction!, 13 July 1999
By A Customer
Im hooked! I was fortunate enough to pick "Dead By Sunset" as the first one of Ann Rule's books to read and I have to say that I literally couldn't put it down. In the last 3 months I have read 4 more and my second choice so far is "Everything She Ever Wanted." Both are great stuff. Partly because of the investigative & writing skills of Ann Rule but also because the characters are so intriguing and incredibly unreal that they make for a terrific read. Male & female alike, much enjoyed reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definately one of her best!, 21 May 2006
One of the reviewers states that this book was not as good as some of her others, but I would disagree. I was hooked from start to finish and was totally involved with all characters. It is unbelievable that the main character, Brad Cunningham could cause so much pain and heartache without seeming to have any conscience and even to believe that he had the 'right' to manipulate people in this manner. The way he treated all the women in his life and then twisted the facts to make it look like he was the wronged victim was unbelievable. And at that point was getting away with it!!! In fact about a third of the way through I was getting uncomfortable with this, but thankfully soon after it all started to unravel for him and leaves you with a sense that justice was about to be served. The only thing I would disagree with is that Ann Rule kept mentioning how extremely intelligent he is, both professionally and emotionally. Obviously he had to be to some degree, to have got away with as much, but some of the things he did e.g. writing abusive letters to more than one of his victims and then showing complete surprise that they were used against him in the court case in which he was trying to show that he was a gentle considerate loving man, made me think that he was not as intelligent as he has been portrayed or he may have forseen the potential consequences of his actions.
If you have not read any Ann Rule books before, I would recommend that you start with this one! Others that I have found very good are Everthing She Ever Wanted and Small Sacrfices.
