Interesting, but did not answer my particular questions, 26 Feb 2002

In a niche with very little material available, this book is probably worth reading if you are planning a holiday or complicated journey with your baby or young child. But don't expect it to answer all your questions! It tries to be all things to all people, and inevitably falls short.I was looking for tips on managing a ten month old on a long haul flight, with a small baggage allowance. I also wanted to know what to expect from baby jetlag. This book did NOT help me on any of these points. I think this book would be of most use to parents who are not very experienced travellers, (even without children). The real life stories are interesting, and most of the tips have the ring of good sense about them. It recommends some baby-friendly destinations in the US. Since this book is inexpensive, it is probably mean-spirited of me to complain that it does not go far beyond common sense and what you could pick up from your friends. The least useful piece of information in the book was the gem that McDonald's food may not taste the same if you leave the US. (If this worries you, why not stay home?) The good news is that, even without the perfect travel book, the 23 hour flight went pretty well. This book did give me some extra confidence to take on the trip, and that in itself was valuable to me.
