i bought this book hoping to get to grips with c# however, the book isnt intended for people new to c# and assumes you are already familiar with the language. im sure the book would be great if you are already using the language but i cant recommend it to people with no knowledge of programming in c#.

Don't buy this book expecting to be taught C#. As the title implies, this book details using C# to write web applications. Its purpose is not to teach you C# from the ground up. Sams have produced a book "teach yourself Visual C# .NET in 24 hours". Get that instead.

This book seems to cover most areas reasonably well. It demonstrates how to use the web eqivilent of forms (web forms funnily enough). Also covered are XML, ADO.NET, XSLT and web services.

So to learn C# from scratch pick another book. To learn how to use it for the web - pick this one.
