Book Description
Director's Third Dimension- Fundamentals of 3D Programming in Director will be the first book to focus exclusively on the new 3D API in Director.
An in-depth explanation and application of the concepts, design principles and scope of working in 3D.
Royalty-free 3D objects and motions are included on the CD so that users without access to 3D modeling software (3DSMax) will be able to learn the 3D functions of Director 8.5.
A help application that runs entirely within Director containing a searchable 3D Lingo Specification and Syntax Dictionary. Director's Third Dimension- Fundamentals of 3D Programming in Director has been designed with the Director developer with little or no 3D experience in mind. The purpose is threefold- to explain the fundamental concepts necessary to begin working with 3D, to demonstrate how these concepts manifest themselves in Director, and to demonstrate strategies for the application of these concepts in terms of specific projects. Namely- building charts, creating interfaces, and controlling characters in a 3D environment. The book has an abundance of demos (usually 2-3 per chapter) in addition to the three big projects mentioned above. At the end of every chapter, there is a "where to go from here" section.
Paul Catanese has been teaching Director, Interactive Multimedia, 3D, and many media support programs such as Photoshop and After Effects for the past four years in Chicago. He has taught at Harold Washington College and Mac University and is currently teaching at both The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College. Paul occasionally writes for Director-Online and was a member of the Brainbench Director 7 Certification Test Development team. Most recently, Paul received a Technology Fellowship from Columbia College to develop the curriculum for a course on 3D programming.
