5.0 out of 5 stars A great introduction to I-Mode., 24 Jun 2002
By Tim L. (Aylesbury, Bucks. United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
If you're interested in wireless Internet, then you've undoubtedly heard about I-Mode.

While the rest of the world has been messing about with WAP, NTT DoCoMo in Japan has been making a fortune with I-Mode over the past few years. It now looks set to take off in the U.S. and Europe(Germany and Holland have just recently launched I-Mode services, whereas Italy and France are due to do so soon).

This book did exactly what I hoped it would do. In the first half it taught me all about the history, technology and unique business model behind I-Mode, In the second half it quickly taught me everything I needed to know to get me started on my first I-Mode site.

Inspired by some of the examples in the advanced sections, I'm now working on a more interactive site with PHP server-side scripting and a MySQL database.

I found the pace of the book to be perfect. It was neither too slow as to frustrate me, nor too fast as to lose me after the first few chapters.

If you are trying to prepare the future of web development and stay one step ahead of the game, then this is the book for you !
