I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately they were dashed pretty quickly. Rather than give you solid tutorials to work though to show you how a specific Interdev feature might be deployed within the context of a site, the book just seems to explain the feature itself. An example of how poorly this book was written, is the section on Interdev's database connectivity features. The lesson starts off using Microsofts Northwind sample database and then without warning shows pictures of the the Pubs sample database which left me extremely irritated...

I got this book a while ago as part of a bundle with Sams 'Teach yourself ASP in 24 hours'. I read this book first, to get to know InterDev, and found that by the end of it I could simply use the other ASP book as a reference because of the amount of ground it covered. This book takes you through all the features of InterDev very gently and is a great beginner's book. While teaching you how to use InterDev to the full, the book covers HTML, DHTML, ASP, Javascript and databases, but only to the point where you can do simple stuff. It is a great introduction to those topics though. There is the odd error in it --beware especially the section on customising style sheets, it killed my installation of InterDev for a while! Despite this I reckon it's still worth the full five stars because of its readability and content.
