4.0 out of 5 stars Commendable effort to cover a lot of ground, 24 Jun 1999
By A Customer
This is a commendable effort to cover a large amount of ground without doing a Schildt or [much worse] a "yyyy for Dummies". There are some useful tips for Builder folk, although the approach does miss out some features such as ActionLists or Threads and some of the system component features. Fortunately unlike C++Builder unleashed it concentrates on the stuff you will use rather than the stuff you'd like to use if you even understood half the acronyms.

It is not a book the expert/professional will refer to on a regular basis - Unleashed is probably one I will - but it is good to make sure you are *aware* of the basics and the potential.

It is one to have in the library (it is cheap enough to make it worth it).

4.0 out of 5 stars Still Valid, 18 May 2003
By A Customer
Although Borland are now on version 6 of C++ Builder this is still a valid introduction to Borland C++ Builder. All the examples in the book work with version 6 and for anyone new (like myself) to C++ and Borland C++ Builder, this is a good introduction.

It does not teach C++ programming or Borland's IDE and VCL in great depth but it does help you find your way around and get you started. Unlike many technical books, this is well written, being very easy to read and understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't think twice - BUY IT!, 15 April 2001
This is a must for an introduction to CPP builder. It takes you gently through key concepts using an infectious writing style that's totally absorbing.
