5.0 out of 5 stars Good source for advanced development, 15 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This book is an excellent choice for the experienced VB developer that is interested in true RAD development, and in utilizing some of the latest hot technologies.

This is an Intermediate-Advanced user level book. It is not an introduction to VB; as such it assumes the reader knows how to program in Visual Basic.

Not only does it introduce and describe how to utilize the rich features of the 6.0 development environment, it also introduces and describes how to incorporate hot technologies, such as TAPI, SAPI, MAPI, ADO, Socket programming, ActiveX servers and controls, Win API, DHTML, help systems, and more, into your VB projects using VB 6.0.

I found this book to be an invaluable addition to my collection, and refer to it often. The author was easily reached and happy to talk when I had an applications question.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference for an intermediate programmer, 14 Sep 1999
By A Customer
I never planned on buying this book but I noticed it in a shop and thought I'd give it a try. I initially avoided it due to a couple of unfavourable reviews. It has already saved me hours of searching through MSDN. I think that the cover gives a reasonably good description of the book (funny enough). And they say you can't tell a book by its cover?! While explaining protocols I think the author got a little carried away, but in general, a great book. I am very happy with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally - a Book that offers help on "HELP", 7 May 1999
By A Customer
This is most certainly NOT a beginner's book, but certainly worth the price as a desk top reference for the VB developer. This was the only book I found that offers step by step instructions on how to create and display an on-line Help System.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book covering the new features available in VB 6.
This book is not aimed at beginners to Visual Basic. It is aimed at those who are already familiar with Visual Basic 5, and want to find out what's new in VB 6. A useful read.
