I found the book extremely good to work through, with clear explanations and worked examples. It should be equally suitable to a complete beginner and to someone with some previous experience as it quickly takes you from simple concepts to quite advanced features. Compared to some of the other "Sam's Teach Yourself" books, which are written in a fairly light hearted way, the language is rather dull but nevertheless very easy to follow.
