Product Description

Product Description

Sams Teach Yourself Database Programming with Visual Basic 6 in 24 Hours takes a straight forward, no-nonsense approach to teaching Visual Basic database programming. The book will focus on five primary areas of database programming: The Fundamentals of Visual Basic 6 and the database capabilities built into the programming environment; The concepts and practices that are applicable to multiple user and group access situations; Connecting to remote database servers; Database solutions for the Internet and intranets; and The future of databases and Visual Basic programming. Sams Teach Yourself Database Programming with Visual Basic 6 in 24 Hours does not try to be a compendium of all the questions any person may ever have, rather, the book focuses on teaching the reader how to use Visual Basic for database applications.

From the Author

Very useful for beginner-intermediate
I wrote this book to help someone that understands VB but is new to the concepts of database programming. The organization of this book that breaks down each lesson into 24 one hour segments is great for learning a new subject. I think that learn-by-doing is one of the most effective methods of learning. In just about every hour you construct a sample project that demonstrates the database technology (including the Data Control, ADO, Data Reporting, the Data Environment, and more).

I worked very hard to make sure all of the information was useful and there are lots of notes and tips that should make you a database wizard!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, concise book, if you have some VB background, 18 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This book very concise, it needs to be read actively, not just browsed. It assumes that you know the fundamentals of Visual Basic and doesn't lead you step by step through what you already know. If you've already finished one of the beginning books on VB, then you're ready for this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Errors, 24 Jul 1999
By A Customer
The very first example creates an error and will not execute.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING! Don't purchase this book!, 2 Jun 1999
By A Customer
The book is written OK, and the assumed knowledge is a little sticking point, but, The code is wrong. In the first 6 chapters there is several parts of code and they are not even close to being correct. It makes references to Objects and Properties that don't even Exist!

This book should nver been allowed to go into publication. It is a technical book with out any technolgy.

STAY CLEAR!
