Best book I've read for learning Java I think. JBuilder IDE helps as well. Bit dissapointed that it didn't do more examples with the components (supplied beans) available on the IDE and go through them in more detail. This book introduces java programming concepts in an easy to learn way, e.g. doesn't start confusing people with public, private, blah until you've got a understanding of what more important stuff is i.e. getting stuff working with the defaults and worry about good programming practice etc.. when you're good and ready.

the book should have more step by step examples to work through rather than just describing this and that ....like a story book.
