2.0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Book which is not for the absolute Begineer, 17 Sep 1999
By A Customer
This is an interesting attempt at explaining a very complex program. Kakert and Kalwick try to give clear explanations on the basic concepts of a number of the tools Studio Max provides. However the language used is not for the beginner and some of the explanations tend to be complex. Good Points Some interesting tutorials and how to do examples Bad Points Over technical language. Poor Graphics. Book requires the reader to have done some background reading about 3D Studio Max.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sloppy & Rushed, 25 Jun 1999
By A Customer
This book struck me as a rushed product that could have used some proofreading. Some text doesn't match the illustrations or the files on the accompanying CDROM. The goal of the book seems to simply demonstrate, step-by-step, a sampling of the functions of the program, without really focusing on "why" or "when" you would use any given technique.

5.0 out of 5 stars A plucky upbeat attack on your sensibilities, 26 May 1999
By A Customer
Though the characters were a little flat I found the intertwining plot lines surrounding the basic primitives, keframes and texture maps to be full of go for the throat action. And the parts with the "Animate Button" were just dreamy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book for beginners in 3D graphics
Great book if you are new to 3D graphics and MAX. But I am already a guru in Softimage so I found this book to be of little help.

1.0 out of 5 stars The editorial quality of an overdue high school term paper.
The title of the book is a misnomer. That at least according to the table of contents, which describes the newer version, R 2.5. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, could be better
This book does a decent job showing you the many possibilities of 3D Studio Max 2.5, though it doesn't do to good a job teaching it to you. Read more
