From the Author
Read, learn, but most of all... have fun!
Writing this book was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. It's nearly impossible for an author to critique his own book, but I can say that initial comments from readers have been very favorable. Borland C++Builder is a tremendous product and even one that can be fun to use. I believe this book offers a good balance between being a good "teach yourself" book and also giving the more advanced reader something to sink his or her teeth into. So read and learn, but most of all... have fun!

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book teaching the mechanics of using C++Builder., 2 Sep 2000
By A Customer
Kent Reisdorph has an excellent writing style, which clearly explains the operation of the C++Builder environment. It's a shame Kent was unable to write the Chapters on Database applications. Ken Henderson took the approach of not explaining anything, and decided to just write a reference to the database components, available in the Professional Edition of C++Builder. This approach was completely out of step with Kent's approach of starting at the beginnning! I've now gone back to using some old Delphi text's, and by referencing this text, am moving forward with my knowledge. Overall excellent beginners text for C++Builder, bar the database sections, but consider other texts like C++ Builder How-To, for further intermediate to advanced programming examples.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely terrible, 18 Jul 1999
By A Customer
this was the first c++ book i ever read and bought it because it included a free compiler but the book tries to be everything to everyone. You cannot try and summarize C++ into 4 chapters the 5th chapter was also a waste of space and i thought the examples were terrible... im sure there are better books out there

1.0 out of 5 stars Too basic. If you can click a mouse, don't buy it., 5 April 1999
By A Customer
Everything in this book is found in the Borland Builder help files. If you know how to click a mouse, save your money.

I wish I had read these reviews before buying it.
