Hancock states from the beginning that the Ark of the covenant is kept in a chapel, in Axum, a small village in Ethiopia. he then spends the next 500 pages rushing about the world dredging up all sorts of theories, which include the Egyptians, The Knights Templar, Atlantis and the 12 tribes of Israel. Then in the last 30 pages or so, concludes that the ark is kept in a small chapel, in a little village called Axum, in Ethiopia !!! This book on the whole starts off well, then gets repetitive, slow and winding, with a mind boggling array of facts, dates and names that only historians, theologists and the ilk would be interested in. there are a few gems hidden in there, but they are few and far between. you are left at the end thinking "I'm still none the wiser". All in all, a book that you can read in bed for half an hour a night, to help you sleep, but still leave you feeling that you have educated yourself just a bit more. a far better read is "The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail" by Michael Baigent and others.
