3.0 out of 5 stars Predictable but still a jolly good read., 5 Sep 2000

This review is from: Bitter Herbs (Hardcover)
Popular female sleuth Willow King once again becomes embroiled in a mystery. A write of romance and revenge novels which her Agent and publisher agree are now unfashionable, she sets out to write a biography of a famous authoress of romantic fiction, only to fantasise - purely because everyone hates said authoress, that she must have been murdered. I found it pretty far fetched that the only medical person she contacted actually came up with the bizarre way the lady could have been, and was, killed but have to admit that Natasha Cooper has a heroine who is thoroughly nice and one that you want to be right against all odds. I also got pretty bored wondering why boyfried C.I. Tom Worth was so disgruntled and miserable throughout the book, even deciding that Willow was getting equally bored with him and the reason eventually was so insipid I wondered why Natasha Cooper bothered with these scenes at all. Having said this, it was a jolly good week-end read and Natasha Cooper has an excellent way of introducing you to her characters, you feel you know them well and they act as you would expect them to.
