3.0 out of 5 stars Niven And Pournell Do Social Inequality, 6 Sep 2008
By G. Thomson (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book surprised me; it is different from anything I've read by these two authors before. The story is about the people who run a massive building, an arcology, which contains everything that 100,000 people need; work leisure and accommodation. The arcology has been built in Los Angeles and the `outside' locals don't like it. They feel threatened that the arcology gets a better deal than them. The story tells of how the people who run the arcology deal with the political and terrorist threats that face them. It's a good story and technically it's not at all outlandish, with gated communities already here it's not a huge leap to see this happening.
