1.0 out of 5 stars For abused women only, 25 Jun 2006
By N. Jacobsen (Copenhagen, Denmark) - See all my reviews
I bought this book expecting it to be a general book on boundaries in various situations. However, the book turns out to be for women who have been abused either in childhood or in marriage. So the book is a lot about boundaries with regards to the physical body. All but one case studies are women's stories. And most stories are about sexual abuse in childhood or violence in marriage. Therefore, the subtitle should have been something like "A guide for abused women" or otherwise there need to be a note about the actual purpose for this book. It is NOT a general self-help book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Written with great clarity, 5 Nov 2006
By John Fisher (York, UK) - See all my reviews
"Boundaries" gives firm and clear guidance as to what is and is not acceptable when dealing with other people, be they family, lovers, friends, bosses, co-workers, professionals, etc. Why is it inappropriate for your lawyer also to be your best friend? Why should you never accept counselling/therapy from one of your peers? We all have stories of relationships that have gone wrong without our understanding why - this book will help you avoid repeating mistakes that you (and they) didn't even realise had been made. If you want to understand how to respect other people and have them respect you, read this book - whatever gender you are.
