5.0 out of 5 stars A great philosopher talks to you about your life's concerns, 7 Feb 1999
By A Customer
I wish more philosophers of Nozick's stature would share their thoughts about the things that matter most to them, and us. A book like this took courage to write, and I found it wonderfully stimulating. This book is a great example of how a philosopher's approach to life can yield practical insights into such topics as religious faith, marriage, love, sexuality, etc. A great book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing. I expected something better from Nozick., 13 Aug 1999
By A Customer
Here's what this book is: blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. A trifling book. I had an impression that profs, even philosophical ones, are supposed to write books only when they got something to say. Quine, Russell, and Hardy certainly wrote this way. This one though is wordy, platitudinous, artificial, and, I'm sorry to say, very trivial. Not worth the time.

1.0 out of 5 stars An embarrassment., 22 Jul 1998
By A Customer
This book is the attempt of one of the sharpest American philosophers to make some personal statements about life, or as he would have it, about philosophy. His assumptions are often off, e.g., that people don't mastubate to pictures of themselves. The last piece in the book is a total embarrassment, an unfortunate out-break of sentimentality. But then, philosophers do have to make $$ somehow.

1.0 out of 5 stars A shame
This book is a disapointment. Although Nozick is one of the best contemporary philosophers, he wrote a self-help book! Read more
