5.0 out of 5 stars Ruby = Great, 12 Nov 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Ruby (Landry) (Paperback)
Ruby, the first in the Landry series tells the story of Gabriel's daughter. Ruby has lived in the bayou since she was born, with her grandmere Catherine. Her Grandpere Jack lives in a shack in the swamps after her Grandmere threw him out when she was born. Ruby has an artistic talent, and even gets some of her work put in galleries in New Orleans. She has also had a boyfriend - Paul Tate, son of Octavious and Gladys Tate - But one awful day, when her Grandmere Catherine dies, Ruby makes a promise to go and find her real father - Pierre Dumas - in New Orleans. Her Grandmother confesses who he really was and what happened, to her mother. Ruby, devastated by the loss of her Grandmere, goes to New Orleans to find her father, when she gets there she is greeted by Beau Andreas, who calls her Gisselle. Ruby later realises that Gisselle is her twin sister, the sister she never knew she had, and Beau is her boyfriend. After talking to her real father, Ruby is made welcome by him, but the same cannot be said for his wife Daphine or her Venomous Twin sister Gisselle. Gisselle and Daphine make things difficult for Ruby, but Ruby has not lived in the Bayou all her life and not learned to look after herself. Beau falls in love with Ruby, much to Gisselles disatisfation. Even after a fatal accident befalls Gisselle, Daphine betrays Ruby by trying to have her incarcerated in a mental institution. But Ruby escapes to go and try to get the life she wanted. What happens? Read it yourself and find out! I couldnt put it down! There were tears and laughter in this one book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Typical VC Andrews - Misery, happiness, heartache & deceit
I particularly loved this book because of the settings. I could exactly picture the bayou where Ruby grew up happily - unaware of the full story regarding her family. Read more
