5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 4 Jul 2000
I thought this book was fantastic. For those who haven't seen the TV episode, Voyager comes across another Federation ship, the Equinox, under attack, and comes to their rescue, only to find that they are the agressors in this conflict. We see a rather stark side to Janeway, who wages a rather personal war against her opposite number, and we get an idea of how both crews feel about at last meeting other Federation-people after so long in the Delta Quadrant. It's gritty and quite dark at times, but the characters are true to what you see on TV, and it's full of drama. I liked 'hearing' the thoughts of the crew having seen their actions. There is also the conflict as to whether or not to use highly suspect methods to get home quickly, something which the Equinox crew want to keep hidden from Janeway and her people. Highly recommendable.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you enjoyed part one, you'll enjoy part 2 even more., 15 Feb 2000
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, however I suspect that most of the deep conversations and arguments between Janeway and Chakotay won't appear in the televised version, which is a shame as they're good reading. Just a couple of things that spoilt it for me. At the bottom of page 150 the author refers to Janeways BROWN eyes. Since when were they brown? And at the end Neelix is holding a potluck? A potlach surely. That apart a very enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the episode., 28 Jan 2002
By A Customer
I had never seen this book before I saw it on Amazon, and as I had never seen the episode either, I decided to buy it. I was not disappointed. I often believe that the books of films or series are better than the actual movie or programme itself. This is one of those books. Many parts of the book is not seen in the televised episode. I would recommend this book to anyone, you don't have to be a Trekkie to enjoy it, though some background knowledge of the series may be required in places.
