The people that we know as Romulans, who know themselves as Rihannsu, FEEL alive when you read her books. Laughter and joy, tragedy and sorrow, honor and the loss of it...all these things are brought to vivid life by Diane Duane. After reading the Rihannsu series, you'll wonder why the Star Trek movies/series didn't bring these people (as written in these books) to the screen. So much could have been done with them.

I heartily recommend that you read them in order. Its not necessary, per se, but SO MUCH is gained by learning of the characters as they develop. In fact, reading Spock's World, and the Wounded Sky are great intros to some of the characters who appear again and again.

Read "My Enemy, My Ally", "The Romulan Way", "Swordhunt", and "Honor Blade". And be prepared to be disappointed...when the day comes that she writes of them no more. For you will sorely miss her insights into the Star Trek universe that we love. And you'll mourn the day when Ael and her crew no longer spread their wings upon starry skies...

Again Diane Duane manages to take the reader further into the SF world of original star trek. The plot is sublime, the events slowly moving towards a climax...for which we have to wait until her next book is released. And although there are new characters, old ones are not forgotten, and it is a pleasure to meet again the Hamalki scientist, and other characters that were introduced inher older books. Also, Diane Duane manages to describe the interaction between the main characters on the Starship Enterprise - spot on. A real pleasure to read. A very good read - and a must for anyone who has enjoyed any of Diane Duane's other TOS books.
