I enjoyed this book. It was a love story that didn't slip into sappiness. It was as realisitic as a romance novel could be. In places it was hilarious,in others tender and sad. I finished it with a goofy smile on my face that left me wanting more. The only problem I have with the novel is the fact that in places the author got her facts wrong, for instance having Greensleeves sung at the court of 1267 when it wasn't really around for another 2-3 hundred years. These are minor quibbles that I have and they didn't detract from the novel which I enjoyed immensly.

I have read all of Jill Barnett's books and was eagerly awaiting this one but was disappointed in it, coming away feeling as if these characters were not fully developed. The humor was not up to par either for Ms. Barnett. Sofia and Tobin were great looking but that seems to be all that was important about these two. Tobin never understood what really made Sofia tick-her fear of abandonment, her dread of waiting for the men she loved-at least this was never brought out in dialogue. The two of them were flat and lacking in compassion most of the time. I wouldn't tell someone not to read Wicked, but think Ms. Barnett has done better developing her "inner" characters in past reads.

In Wicked, Jill Barnett creates an absolutely beautiful, powerfully moving love story. I fell in love with her heroine and hero and cried along with them and cheered for them. This is a superb look at young love; it reminds us all of who we once were and how love can change our lives. Brava, Ms. Barnett!
