5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading, 22 Dec 2003
By Budge Burgess (Kilmarnock, Scotland) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
Masson's analysis is essential reading for anyone entering any of the social work or psychology/psychiatry professions. He argues that Frued first discovered, then suppressed, widespread child sexual abuse - perverting his evidence and research to evade criticism from fellow professionals. Instead of exposing the abuse, he buried it, creating a maze of explanations in which women fantasise about abuse and create for themselves false memories of their dreams being fulfilled. This is a major indictment of psychoanalysis, and an invaluable warning to anyone involved in research. Essential reading.
