3.0 out of 5 stars It isn't by me!, 6 April 1998
By A Customer
Please note - if you've come here looking for other books by me, this isn't one of them!

I'm the Douglas Adams who wrote the Hitchhiker books, the Dirk Gently books, and co-wrote Last Chance to See, the Meaning of Liff and Starship Titanic. I did not write The Prostitute in the Family Tree.

2.0 out of 5 stars Always intresting subject, not a spectacular novel, 30 Oct 1998
By A Customer
If you are looking for another book along the same lines as this one, I highly recommend the brilliant academic work that reads like a fast-paced novel, "The Harlot by the Side of the Road," by Jonathan Kirsh. I have neither disdain nor high praise for this book, I only think it is unfortunate that the author should have the same name as a writer of humourous science fiction adventures. (Whom I happen to adore, but thats besides the point :)

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good read, and an excellent resource!, 1 Jul 1999
By A Customer
This is a pretty inspiring read. If you think you understand the parables already, read it and think again. I've just led a homegroup study on the Good Samaritan using Adams' insights as a basis, and everyone was completely bowled over!

It's got a lot of radical ideas for bringing scripture passages to new life, and suggestions for dramatising within services or meetings, which look really practical. If you need a good alternative to the usual sermon format that'll make people sit up and take notice, there's loads of good stuff in this book!

No, this is not the Hitchhiker's Douglas Adams. But yes, the author delights in irony and satire in the Christian Bible. Read more
