5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide to pro tools, 20 Mar 2002
By A Customer
David Franz has given us an excellent insight into the world of Pro Tools Le. The book is easy to read and understand, with clearly laid out chapters starting from the very basics of getting your equipment wired up to some advanced music production.
Accompanied with an excellent cd-rom, giving you your money's worth in free software and plug in's, as well as some helpful sheets to print off, you can't really fail to get further ahead in Pro Tools. I had previously struggled with the hundreds of pages of over-complicated manual, but having spent a few hours reading this and using the accompanying session files I am know a lot more confident in my own ability to produce in pro tools. A very useful addition to your studio well worth the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Old version, 8 Mar 2004
By A Customer
The Protools FREE version runs on Windows 98 only !
And hence this entire book must be based on ProTools 5?
Digidesign have yet to release a free/lite (non hardware keyed) version for XP.

As of 2004 we are on version 6.
I'd look for the version in the title if I were you.....

4.0 out of 5 stars simple solutions in a complex world, 21 Nov 2003
pro tools is rocket science, we all know it.

this book guides you through the basics, in an effective and viable way.

it won't turn you into an overnight expert, but the foundations will be effectively lain.

worthy to be associated with the king of production software.
