Product Description

Product Description
Now fully revised, the third edition of this renowned book by Ralph Goss has been made even more valuable with the addition of many new illustrations, and takes into account not only traditional cut roof construction but also modern trussed rafter roof assembly methods.

Revised by C.N. Mindham, author of Roof Construction and Loft Conversion, this new edition contains many new drawings of constructional details for which his own book is much acclaimed. Information is now given on wall plate and gable end strapping, wind bracing, truss clips and other roofing metalwork, as well as on the modern tools and instruments necessary to carry out the construction work.

Proven as a book for professionals, the book is now equally suitable for the keen DIY enthusiast as well as the professional. All information is given in both metric and imperial units.

This book provides 118 tables, in metric and imperial, for those constructing roofs for new buildings and extensions, using cut roof or truss rafter construction

5.0 out of 5 stars Its A Tool as Much As a Book, 21 Mar 2004
The Roofing Ready Reckoner is not just a book but a specialist tool for any carpenter that has to put on a cut roof, and Mr. Goss makes it so simple that almost anyone could cut a roof from the instructions and tables in the book.
As a carpenter for over 42 years and having to put on cut roofs using the steel square this book has made my life easier as it will for anyone that buys it. The only thing that someone must be aware of when purchasing the book is that they will have to buy a protractor to set their bevels as unlike the older publications that had a protractor provided.

A superb book. I would say that it is not for the amateur but is an invaluable tool for the trainee carpenter or experienced craftsmen. It is especially useful when used in conjuction with a carpenters roofing square. A must for all roofing
