Product Description

Product Description

This work should be a useful aid in the initial design and planning of a building project. Organized largely by building type (from airports to zoos), it covers user requirements, planning criteria, basic dimensions and considerations of function and siting. There are additional sections on building components, services and building physics, fire protection, and designing for the disabled. Most illustrations are dimensioned, and each building type includes plans, sections, site layouts and design details. There is a detailed set of metric/imperial conversion units and an extensive bibliography.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good reference book - a much-needed update!, 3 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Having Neufert's Architect's Data is a must on every architect's and student of architecture bookshelve. It provides all the required dimensions of most things one commonly (and not so commonly) meets in life. This edition is a much-needed update of the older version which was in itself a very useful edition. The editors have done a very good job in not repeating information which appeared in the previous version, but included much new material. A section on outdoor lighting with the aim of minimising glare and light pollution from outdoor lighting fixtures would have been much appropriate these days.

Dimensions and planning data for many building types are given, yet astronomical observatories and/or planetaria are again omitted...

All in all, this is a very useful publication and should be the first purchase of any architecture student.

5.0 out of 5 stars not only for Architects a must have!, 11 April 2006
This review is from: Architects' Data (Paperback)
This book is such a must or need have for everyone in the building industry. All references you need for a price that's very sweet for priceless information. And thank you for not translating this into feet and inches. This is metric info as it should be in Europe! With all drawings it's also a guide for multi discipline and multi language situations. Now let's wait for a digital edition you can fit into AutoCad or Revit or just as a helpfile reference while working out plans or designing them!
