This is required reading for my first year MSC Computer Science and I have to say I would recommend it to anyone who wants to study or even just learn a little more about computers. It starts from the absolute basics (this a mouse...) and slowly builds up. Don't be put off by this as it definitely not a simple book, you can just read the bits you are interested in or read it from start to finish and learn everything you will need. It was perfect for me as it did not assume any knowledge at all.

It also has useful tests and questions after each topic and a related website with more tests and links to further reading.

As a novice I had been looking a computer book that wouldn't be too simple yet didn't assume I already knew how the inside of a computer worked and this is it.
