3.0 out of 5 stars Not the easiest book for "in the field " use., 30 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Buyers need to be aware that relatively few species are illustrated in colour, and some not at all. As the intro states, the book is best used in conjunction with a North American Bird Book.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent if limited in scope, 27 Nov 2001
By A Customer
As ever the Collins guides are the ones to have, and this is as informative and well-illustrated as the rest in the series. However, this is such a limited-interest title, one has to wonder why Collins keep it in print. It may be for nostalgic reasons - the author was reputed to have inspired Ian Fleming to use his name when trying to name his secret agent character.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest book of all time, 27 Nov 1999
By A Customer
Birds of the west indies by James bond. What can you say.... A well known author was sitting down, about to write a novel, and was thinking of a character name, he glances at the books on his desk, and what should be itting there, but James bonds book. The well known author (Ian fleming) writes down and uses the name in his books

And the rest is history........
